Will Hodgman was born and educated in Hobart. Will graduated in Arts and Law at the University of Tasmania in 1993 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1994.
In 1995 he travelled to the United Kingdom and worked for the Wiltshire County Council, prosecuting cases of child abuse and neglect.
In 2002, at his first attempt, Will was successful in being elected as a Liberal Member for Franklin in the House of Assembly. He was elected Deputy Opposition Leader by his colleagues.
Following the 2006 State election Will became Leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Party and of the State Opposition.
In the 2010 State election Will lead the Liberal Party to a 7.2 percent swing and the highest number votes of any political party.
Will's personal vote was the third highest in the history of Tasmanian politics under the current electoral system, and the highest ever for a Leader of the Opposition.
Will is currently Shadow Minister for Economic Development, and Tourism and the Arts.
Previously he has shadowed a number of portfolios, including Treasury and Finance, Employment, Education, Energy and Community Development.
Will is patron, and a member of a number of community and sporting organisations.
Will is married to Nicky, and they have three children, William, James and Lily. They live at Margate, south of Hobart.
