Forestry debate to go ahead on 30 July in Brighton – Premier too spineless to attend
I am pleased that Deputy Premier Bryan Green this week has finally formally agreed on a date and place for a public debate on the Government’s policy of shutting down the forestry industry.
I proposed a debate with the Premier weeks ago, but she has refused.
This major debate should be one between the leaders, but disappointingly Ms Giddings has run away from the opportunity to explain her forestry policy to the people of Tasmania.
None of Ms Giddings' predecessor Labor Premiers - certainly not Paul Lennon, not even David Bartlett - would have shunned the opportunity to debate me on forestry, highlighting just how spineless she is.
The disastrous forestry deal is killing off one of our pillar industries and the fact that the Premier refuses to even defend her policy highlights her lack of leadership.
*The debate between Will Hodgman and Bryan Green will be held on 30 July in Brighton. Further details (time, venue etc) will be released once they have been confirmed.
