Groundhog Day for Hobart waterfront
A year after the Government was forced to scrap the useless Sullivan’s Cove Waterfront Authority, it’s been revealed that Labor and the Greens are setting up another new layer of bureaucracy for the waterfront.*
This is Groundhog Day.
Millions of dollars were wasted on the on the Sullivan's Cove Waterfront Authority, which delivered nothing, and now the Government is setting up another body which will no doubt cost millions more.
How much of the $50 million for developing the waterfront will be spent on this unnecessary new bureaucracy?
Lara Giddings has form for wasting public money, having blown around $10 million planning a waterfront hospital that was never built.
The Government already has nine departments, nearly 30,000 public servants and the TasPorts authority at its disposal, so why do they need another layer of bureaucracy?
The Liberals fully support the $50 million being spent on remediating the site. What we don’t support is spending millions on creating a new bureaucracy to do it.
