TCCI budget submission
I welcome the release of the TCCI’s budget submission today, which is consistent with the Liberals’ vision set out in our first Future Directions statement earlier this month.
In particular, the TCCI’s proposal for a “self-sustaining” Tasmania is consistent with our vision for self-reliant Tasmania.
Like the TCCI, we believe we should be supporting our cornerstone industries such as forestry, mining and agriculture – not shutting them down by removing resource security.
We have already articulated a plan for a single-state-wide planning scheme, and to abolish frivolous third-party appeals.
We have a 10-year plan to address Tasmania’s appalling Year 12 completion rates by extending High Schools to year 12.
We will examine closely the other proposals put forward by the TCCI in their submission.
