My vision is of a Tasmania where everyone has the opportunity to access quality education and healthcare, get a job, start a business and raise a family.

And with a government that lives within it means, has the right priorities, and can be trusted.

Kick-starting investment and development in Tasmania

At the core of the Liberals’ Plan for a Brighter Future is our commitment to make Tasmania attractive for investment, and to create jobs.

A majority Liberal Government will immediately legislate to direct TasWater to waive water and sewerage head works charges for developments, including subdivisions, for two years.

Minimum mandatory sentences for serious sexual offences against children

For Tasmania to have a brighter future we must do a better job of protecting our children from sexual abuse.

Backing small business, the engine room of our economy

A key part of our plan for a brighter future for Tasmania is to back Tasmania’s nearly 38,000 small businesses.

An International Shipping Service for Tasmania

A majority Liberal Government will move decisively to secure a brighter future for Tasmania’s economy, by ensuring the reintroduction of an international shipping service to Asia.

No Forced School Closures

Action

The Liberals have a firm commitment of no forced school closures.

Year 7-12 High Schools within a decade – Building a Job Ready Generation

Action

The Liberals will create a job ready generation by extending all Tasmanian high schools to year 12 within a decade of gaining office. This policy is a key strategy in tackling Tasmania’s extremely low year 12 completion rates.

Reducing child abuse through education

Action

The Tasmanian Liberals will provide up to $200,000 in annual funding to allow Bravehearts to implement their student safety program into Tasmanian primary schools statewide.

Biosecurity Tasmania

Action

The Liberals will introduce a specialised unit within the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment to protect Tasmania’s natural environment and agricultural advantages.

Growing Our Tourism Industry

Action

The Liberals will establish Tourism Tasmania as an entity separate from the bureaucracy, and establish an Events and Regional Economic Stimulus Program.
