Red Tape Reduction

Action

The Liberals will enact laws that require, for every business regulation imposed by the Government, two redundant or unnecessary regulations must be removed.

What this policy means for you

Small business will be given the opportunity to grow and create new jobs for all Tasmanians.

As we engaged with the small business community across Tasmania, there was one common theme: red tape is acting like a handbrake on businesses and jobs.

Red tape stops businesses from what they do best - powering our economy and employing Tasmanians.  We have 38,000 small businesses who should not have to take time out of their valuable working days to comply with a mountain of rules and regulations, and the accompanying paper work.

The Tasmanian Liberals believe that more could and should be done to help small business.  That's why as part of our positive plan for Tasmania we have introduced legislation into Parliament aimed at slashing the increasing burden of red tape politics.

This legislation is in addition to our positive plan to help more Tasmanian businesses win Government contracts.

Our legislation will mean that the Labor-Green Government will not be able to introduce a new rule or regulation without removing two existing rules or regulation.

It should be the role of Government to empower business, to help them grow and prosper.  Instead, the Labor-Green Government wants to strangle them with red tape.

It is the Liberals believe that this is one way that we can assist in small business growth in Tasmania.  It is part of the Liberals firm commitment to make Tasmania a more competitive place to do business.
